Uzodimma Distributes Tinubu’s Rice To Five South East States
Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma has launched the distribution of truckloads of rice generously given by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as part of Christmas gifts and aid efforts for the five South East States.
The event occurred at the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Secretariat in Owerri where Governor Uzodimma highlighted that the rice supplies were personally donated by President Tinubu, aimed at supporting Christians in the South East region.
Consequently, he urged members of CAN to include President Tinubu’s administration in their prayers.
Expressing gratitude for the blessings that enabled people to overcome the trials of 2023, Governor Uzodimma remained optimistic that 2024 would bring about significant improvements for everyone.
Reflecting on May 29, 2023, Governor Uzodimma recalled President Tinubu’s initiatives aimed at economic recovery, alleviating hardships, bolstering the Naira, fostering economic growth, generating employment opportunities, and working towards the overall enhancement of Nigeria’s stature.
He said, “Though some of those policies came with initial pains, like the high cost of items in the market, the policies are meant to address these pains.
“Towards the end of last year, the Federal and state governments distributed palliative materials in Imo state, doing their best to send the materials to the nooks and crannies of the state.
“80 per cent of people living in the South East are Christians, and so Christmas celebration is taken as a very serious festival,”
The governor, representing the President’s dedication to the welfare of the populace, stressed the importance of extending relief and aid to citizens, especially during festive periods.
The governor highlighted the involvement of Imo State CAN to facilitate smooth distribution, noting that all Christians in the region fall under CAN’s umbrella.
Additionally, he assured that the Imo State Government would assist CAN with logistical support to transport the truckloads of rice to the Southeast states of Abia, Anambra, Enugu, Ebonyi, and Imo.
During his welcome speech, the Imo CAN Chairman, Rev. Eches Eches, praised President Tinubu for his endeavors in catering to the people’s well-being.
Further, Rev. Eches lauded Governor Uzodimma as “a compassionate advocate for both God and humanity,” acknowledging his commitment to advancing the interests of the Igbo community at the national level.
Eches also praised Uzodimma’s unwavering commitment to uplifting the Christian community in Imo State.
Adding to the acknowledgment, the five CAN Chairmen from the Southeast states presented the Governor with an African Study Bible, expressing gratitude for his continuous support towards the people and the Church.
