WAFCON: Super Falcons Get Hero’s Welcome At Presidential Villa
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu on Monday warmly received Nigeria’s victorious Super Falcons at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, following their historic win at the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
The senior women’s national team secured a dramatic 3-2 comeback victory over host nation Morocco in the final, cementing their legacy as Africa’s most successful female football team.
With this win, the Super Falcons now boast ten WAFCON titles out of twelve editions.

The delegation, which arrived at the Villa at exactly 4:36 pm, was ushered straight into the President’s office where the players and coaching staff were congratulated for their remarkable resilience and performance.
Before the final, President Tinubu had publicly urged the Super Falcons to “bring the cup home,” a charge the team fulfilled in spectacular fashion.
In response to their triumph, the President rewarded each player with a national honour, a cash gift of $100,000, and a house.
“The nation is proud of your determination, your strength, and your unrelenting spirit,” Tinubu reportedly told the players. “You have once again proven that Nigerian women can conquer the continent.”
First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, who joined in receiving the team, commended the Falcons not just for their victory, but for serving as an inspiration to young Nigerian girls and aspiring athletes.
