2023: It is time to sing songs of unity, peace prosperity, says Shettima

Sen. Kashim Shettima, All Progressives Congress (APC) 2023 Vice-Presidential candidate says is time to sing songs of unity, peace, prosperity and stability to make Nigeria the pride of the black race.

Shettima made this known on Wednesday in Abuja when he was formally presented as the party’s Vice-Presidential candidate by Sen. Abdullahi Adamu APC National Chairman.
” Rome was not destroyed by outside Invaders, but by the complacency of Romans.
“In the coming week and months,we have to go into the trenches, go into the nooks and crannies to sing songs of unity, peace, prosperity and stability.
“Let us unite this country and make her the pride of the black man,”Shettima, a former two-term governor of Borno and.
He described Sen. Bola Tinubu, the party’s presidential candidate as a political titan with selfless character.
Shettima while speaking on his nomination and the APC Muslim-muslim ticket, said it was time we went beyond malicious concontions and dubious aspersions.
“I don’t intend to be Vice-President to represent members of the Muslim community, no, the Sultan of Sokoto is capable of doing that.
“I don’t seek to be the Vice-Presidential of Nigeria to protect the interest of Hausa Kanuri tribe in the North, no, I believe in the Nigeria project.
“Asiwaju Bola Tinubu believes in the Nigerian project, and I swear in the name of God that I never supported Asiwaju to be his running mate.
“I supported the project because of moral compulsion, Shettima who currently represents Borno Central in the National Assembly said.
He added that there was no waigth he carried very carefully as much as the burden of trust.
“I stand here today, because of the testaments of those who believed in me, I will never take the expectations of the public for granted,”the former Borno governor said.
He noted that APC’s successes in the last two presidential elections were not magic shows, but reward for its foresighted and pragmatic decisions.
This, he said, included sacrifices of personal interest and sectional sentiments for the over-riding interest of the party.
He added that having led the party through successive two presidential elections and resisted the temptations of imposing a successor, President Muhammadu Buhari remained the man of the moment.
Shettima said Buhari must be remembered for passing the touch to the choice of the party’s members in the person of Tinubu.
He said the hope of the black man rest with the Igbo people of South-East Nigeria because they were geographically mobile, economically enterprising and educationally ambitious.
He added that the hope of the black man also rest with the Yoruba people of South-West for their enterprising nature and the Hausa people of the North for their hard work.
Shettima further said that the hope of Nigeria rested on the ethnic minority that glued the country together.
He paid glowing tribute to Nigerians who had seen beyond the APC 2023 Muslim-muslim presidential ticket, especially some Catholic Bishops, saying it is time to move forward

According to Okpebholo “just like Edo, Delta is ready to witness practical governance under APC.”

Beaming with joy, Gov Okpebholo added, “It is our turn to shine in the South South. It is now your turn in Delta. It is happening here, as it happened in Edo State. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is doing very well for the nation. He is repairing the foundation of the country for better prosperity. Because of that, in Edo State, we have started. We said 2027 is already possible. It is also possible here in Delta. I am here to welcome my brother, Chiedu Ebie.

“Chiedu is an intelligent young man who knows when to move. It is time for Delta to move, and it is starting here with Ika people.”

According to the APC national Chairman, “we have the three Senators now. We have members of the House of Representatives and State Assembly members, and over 60 percent of the followers of PDP have now joined the APC. We are assured of taking over this State come next election.

Sir Jude Idimogu, a former two-term member of the Lagos State House of Assembly, has strongly stated that there will be “no vacancy” in Aso Rock come 2027, reaffirming his commitment to the re-election of President Bola Tinubu.

Idimogu, who served as the representative of Oshodi-Isolo Constituency II from 2015 to 2023, shared his views during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Lagos.

His comments followed the recent declaration from an opposition group promising to defeat the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 elections.

A steadfast member of the APC and deputy leader of the Ndigbo socio-cultural group in Lagos, Idimogu dismissed the opposition’s chances of defeating President Tinubu in 2027, asserting that no coalition of opposition leaders could pose a significant challenge to the president’s second-term aspirations.

“The ruling party has strong leadership and unwavering grassroots support that will carry us through to victory in 2027,” Idimogu stated, branding the opposition’s efforts as “futile.”

He further noted that power rotation between the North and South made it clear that it was the South’s turn to complete its eight years in office.

“There is no vacancy in Aso Rock come 2027, and I am appealing to all Northerners in the APC to support the president in completing his eight years,” he added.

In his assessment of the current administration’s progress, Idimogu lauded President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda, citing positive developments such as better power supply, the strengthening of the naira against the dollar, and the implementation of policies that have helped reduce food prices and boost agricultural output.

“With the restoration of the naira-for-crude deal and the export drive, we are seeing tangible results. I don’t see any opposition candidate who can present a policy better than what Tinubu’s administration is already doing,” he explained.

Looking ahead to 2027, Idimogu expressed his firm belief that he would be among those advocating for President Tinubu’s re-election, given the progress already made under his leadership.

Idimogu concluded by urging the opposition coalition to reconsider its stance, suggesting that they join forces with the president for the greater good of the nation.
