Goup accuses Akume of imposing a guber candidate that is not APC member in Benue

The All Progressives Congress (APC) Solidarity Group, Benue state chapter has lashed out at the former Governor of Benue State, Senator George Akume for imposing a non- member as its Governorship candidate

They group disclosed that the Benue State governorship candidate of the (APC) Rev. Father Hyacinth Alia, “is not a member of the state chapter of the party.”

Rev Fr. Hyacinth Alia emergence at the governorship primary held in the state is still a subject of controversy.

The state coordinator, Hon. Guana Joseph, in a statement released Tuesday in Abuja, said documents emanating from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) revealed that the Vandiekya Local Government chapter of APC where the APC candidate hails from has no record of membership with INEC.

“We have with us the certified true copies of INEC’s response to an application by a law firm, Broad Spectrum & Partners, requesting for certified true copies of the acknowledgement of receipt of hard and soft copies of the registers of members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Social

Democratic Party (SDP) from Benue State as submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

“In its reply to the application signed by Barr. Ernest Olenyi, INEC revealed that out of the 23 local government areas of Benue State, the APC submitted the list of members in 21 local government areas.

“The two local government areas without its list of members are Vandiekya and Katsina-Ala local governments.

“The implication is that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has no validly nominated governorship candidate by the party as the local government area where Rev. Father Hyacinth Alia is from was not submitted in compliance with Section 77(2) & (3) of the Electoral Act 2022 (as amended).”

Recall that the Benue state APC had zone the Governorship seat to Jechira which comprises of Konshisha and Vandiekya Local government areas of the state.
According to the statement, with Vandiekya register not submitted to INEC and the deadline already elapsed, it shows that the party may not have candidates from both Katsina Ala and Vandiekya Local Areas of Benue.

The Governorship candidate, Rev Fr Hyacinth Alia is from Vandiekya local government area where he claimed to have registered as a member of the APC.

The APC group said “Alia falls short of the three months membership waver, hence stand disqualified on the ground that there is no member of the party from Vandiekya Local government at all. The leadership of the party at the state level is aware of this development but the leader is mute about it.

This, therefore, brings to mind, the question of the leadership has truly ceded the Governorship seat to the PDP. The party has Konshisha local government to chose from. We have two competent aspirants from Konshisha, we must look at that direction if the APC must participate in the 2023 Governorship elections in Benue.”

The group also called of the national leadership of APC u derby Senator Abdullahi Adamu to intervene before it is too late.

“The National Chairman of our party H.E Senator Abdullahi Adamu should quickly resolve this issue before it is too late. We are sure that the state chapter is not ready to do the needful base on some certain interest, it is unfortunate that APC in Benue is sinking before our very eyes.”

Why Senator Sani Is On Half Salary

Published

Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani has declared that he reached a decision with his deputy and the state’s executive council to be taking half salary when it dawned on them that more than 60 percent of the populace were living below the poverty line.

A comprehensive review of the allowances of the political office holders also revealed that “it is too much”, Senator Sani added.

Biztellers reports that no political office holder or appointee is using a brand new car in Kaduna State, even the governor uses his personal cars.

In another vital reason, the governor noted was that they had to take the collective decision “cut the cost of governance in Kaduna State”.

These, Senator Sani maintained are the reasons why his administration is able to be delivering some impactful projects for which the people are surprised, and pleasantly so.

In his words, “When we came in, we sat down with them and said look, charity begins at home. We have to cut the cost of governance in Kaduna state. We are running a state where at least 60% of the population are living below the poverty line.

“I said to the Deputy Governor can we reduce this allowances because it is too much, they all agreed collectively even myself, they need to cut my salary into two, so today I’m receiving half of my salary since I became governor of Kaduna State.

“Commissioners, Advisers, Senior Special Assistance since we came in we removed their performance allowances, when you put this money together that is why people are surprise we are doing some works, because you have to cut the cost of governance.

“And today no commissioner not even Deputy Governor is using a new car in Kaduna state, I told them the cars we inherited from the previous commissioners let’s use it. Today, I’m using my personal cars as a governor and that’s what we have been doing it is not magic, it is cutting cost of governance.”
