Tinubu Calls On Security Chiefs To Tackle Insecurity
In an effort to combat the multitude of security threats plaguing the country, President Bola Tinubu has urged the nation’s security chiefs to secure a definitive victory against insecurity.
This directive was disclosed by Ajuri Ngelale, a presidential spokesperson, in a statement released on Friday.
President Tinubu, addressing security chiefs and heads of intelligence agencies during a Presidential Security Briefing at the State House in Abuja on Friday, emphasized that although considerable strides have been made in eliminating certain security threats across various areas, the true measure of success lies in conclusively resolving the multi-faceted menace.
He said “We have too many investments that we need to make now in soft and physical infrastructure, in social security, in MSME empowerment, and other growth enablers.
“We are pursuing a $1 trillion economy in the next few years, and our efforts will be undermined if we do not finally wrap up our progressive onslaught against enemies of progress. Be encouraged. The confidence of our people in your capacity is rising, and they are appreciative of the sacrifices of our men and women.
The success you are recording is undeniable. Nigerians are seeing it, but the avoidable errors, as witnessed recently in Kaduna, are unacceptable and cannot be repeated.
“I am pleased that coordination between all agencies has dramatically improved over recent months, but there is no room for celebrations until we can end this, until we can bring our troops back to their own localities, and until we can free up resources for our critical economic expansion programme.”
The President underscored the importance of the armed forces meeting their goal: ensuring the country reaches a steady production rate of two million barrels of crude oil daily by the initial quarter of 2024.
The president warned “I do not play with my intelligence reports. I have multiple lines of sight. The Navy and sister branches must step up their game to achieve our aims for the benefit of all Nigerians.
“All malign actors will be aggressively uprooted from our midst. Those working against the national agenda from within and without will meet justice. Your task is clear. We will sustain our momentum. Failure is not an option under my leadership.”
President Tinubu also lauded the commitment and dedication shown by the Commander of the Presidential Air Fleet, the Commander of the Brigade of Guards, and his Chief Personal Security Officer in executing their responsibilities, resulting in their well-deserved promotions.

Speaking during the inauguration ceremony in Benin City, Governor Okpebholo emphasized the importance of accountability in the management of public resources.
He urged the committee to carry out its assignment thoroughly and within the bounds of the law.
In his response, Okungbowa expressed gratitude to the governor for entrusting the team with the assignment, vowing to deliver results within the stipulated timeframe.
“A lot of vehicles used by the past administration are missing, as those in custody of the vehicles have refused to return them,” Okungbowa said.

The committee, which includes representatives from Edo’s three senatorial districts, is set to investigate and recover the vehicles based on credible intelligence already at their disposal.

He also called on members of the public to assist the committee by providing information about any government vehicles that may still be in private possession.
“We want to appeal to members of the public who might be aware of anyone still keeping government vehicles in their houses to please inform us to enable the committee to recover such for the Edo State Government,” Okungbowa said.
The committee’s vice chairman, Rt. Hon. Victor Edoror, a former Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, will work alongside other members to ensure the success of the initiative. The public can reach the committee at 08110165121.
