Court Dismisses Bobrisky’s Lawsuit Against EFCC, National Assembly
A Federal High Court in Lagos has thrown out a lawsuit filed by popular Nigerian crossdresser, Okuneye Idris Olanrewaju, also known as Bobrisky, against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the National Assembly.
Bobrisky had sought N200 million from the EFCC for alleged “psychotic trauma” and N1 billion from the National Assembly, claiming a violation of his right to a fair hearing.
He also requested that the court restrain both the EFCC and the National Assembly from further harassment, detention, or declaring him wanted.

The legal action stemmed from a controversial incident in which social media influencer Martins Otse leaked an audio recording accusing Bobrisky of paying the EFCC N15 million to drop money laundering charges against him.
While Bobrisky denied the authenticity of the recording and threatened legal action against Otse, he failed to respond to an EFCC summons for questioning.
The tension escalated when, on November 1, 2024, the EFCC removed Bobrisky from an Amsterdam-bound KLM flight at Lagos’s Murtala Muhammed International Airport.
In his ruling on November 28, 2024, Justice Alexander Owoeye dismissed Bobrisky’s claims, stating that they lacked merit and were not supported by credible evidence.
“Having evaluated the evidence placed before this Court by the Applicant, it is evident that the Applicant has failed to provide credible evidence to justify the award of the declaratory and injunctive reliefs sought by him,” Owoeye said.
The judge further clarified that Bobrisky’s allegations of rights violations against the EFCC and the National Assembly were unsupported by the affidavit evidence presented.
“I hold that the claims of violation of fundamental rights against the 1st and 2nd Respondents were not made out of the affidavit evidence placed before this Court,” Justice Owoeye added.
In a statement following the ruling, the EFCC’s Head of Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale, said, “The claims of violation of fundamental rights against the 1st and 2nd Respondents lack merit and are accordingly dismissed.”
Justice Owoeye also rejected Bobrisky’s request for damages, refusing to grant any financial compensation against the EFCC.

The premiere was hosted by popular media personality Ariyiike Dimples, who added energy and excitement to the event, interviewing guests and celebrities on the red carpet.
The event was attended by an impressive lineup of Nollywood stars, media executives, radio icons, and influencers, all dressed to impress.
The screening of Radio Voice received a standing ovation, with attendees praising the film’s emotional depth and the standout performances of its cast.
Early reactions on social media have been overwhelmingly positive, with many describing the film as powerful, nostalgic, and a timely reflection on the challenges faced by media professionals.
In his address at the premiere, RMD highlighted the importance of preserving Nigerian heritage through storytelling.

Radio Voice is set to open in cinemas nationwide on April 11, 2025, and is expected to captivate audiences with its powerful portrayal of the human side of radio and the media industry.
