Uproar As Angry Nigerians Ignites ‘#TinubuMustGo’ On Social Media

Published

on

Reactions has surged as the hashtag #TinubuMustGo has erupted across all social media platforms, transforming them into arenas of intense discontent.

Nigerians are increasingly frustrated with the pervasive influence of president Bola Ahmed Tinubu over the government, which has ignited a storm of criticism and demands for change.

Citizens accuse Tinubu of corruption and political strong-arming, which have significantly marred his legacy.

However, these issues merely scratch the surface of a broader dissatisfaction. The implementation of policies aligned with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), strongly advocated by Tinubu, has been blamed for exacerbating economic woes.

Critics argue that these measures, rather than fostering growth, are stifling the nation’s economic potential.

The daily lives of Nigerians are marked by escalating living costs, rampant unemployment, and increasing insecurity. Many question the rationale behind enduring policies perceived as favouring a select few at the expense of the general populace.

Government expenditures have also come under fire. The allocation of N21 billion to renovate the Vice President’s residence and N90 billion to sponsor Hajj trips, amidst widespread economic hardship, is seen as a blatant disregard for the struggles of ordinary Nigerians.

Particularly disillusioned are the youth, who view Tinubu as emblematic of outdated politics that hinder national progress. The fervour of #TinubuMustGo reflects a broader call for accountability, transparency, and a fresh approach to governance.

One Twitter user said “We didn’t vote for Tinubu, let him pack his things and leave Aso Rock. If I meet for that Aso Rock him no go like me oh”

Another user tagging INEC official page wrote “Good morning @inecnigeria unfortunate greetings to you all. I’m here to tell you that if you don’t give us free and fair elections, we we’ll take it by force. We will crush anyone in our way. We will not be going through the corrupt court system.”

@sacobi5 wrote “I am ready to lead this protest in my area”

This movement is not just a transient trend; it encapsulates a profound desire for a new era. The message resonates clearly: Nigerians are weary of the status quo and are demanding substantive change.

Renowned songstress, Tiwa Savage has shared a remarkable gesture of goodwill by fellow artist Olamide.

The YBNL record label owner turned down a N100 million offer for a verse in one of her songs, according to Tiwa’s recent Instagram post.

Tiwa explained that she initially approached Olamide’s management, anticipating that he would insist on providing his contribution for free. His team set a fee of N100 million, but upon learning the artist involved was Tiwa, Olamide refused to accept the payment.

Highlighting their close, sibling-like bond, Tiwa expressed her gratitude towards Olamide for recognising the challenges faced by female artists in the music industry.

“I was talking to his management, I did not want to talk to him directly because he would want to do it for free. I was willing to pay and his team charged me N100 million. When Olamide asked them who the artiste was, he just said NO. He won’t take it,” Tiwa recounted.

“He said I’m his sister and he knows how difficult it is for a woman to make it in the industry. And guess what? He gave the verse for free. Good people exist and Baddo is one,” she added.

This act of kindness underscores Olamide’s supportive nature and his commitment to uplifting fellow artists, particularly women in the industry.
