Health Disclosures Heat Up As Harris Challenges Trump’s Fitness
Kamala Harris, the Democratic presidential candidate, aims to leverage her “excellent health” as a political asset in the upcoming election.
A medical report released by the White House on Saturday confirms that Harris is “in excellent health” and adequately prepared for the responsibilities of the presidency.

The report, authored by her physician, Dr. Joshua Simmons, characterizes the 59-year-old Vice President as having the “physical and mental resiliency” essential for the role, following an “unremarkable” physical examination conducted in April.
During this examination, the only health concerns noted were seasonal allergies and hives, which are managed with medication, and mild nearsightedness that requires contact lenses.
The timing of Harris’s health report is seen as a strategic move to apply pressure on Donald Trump, who, at 78, became the oldest presidential nominee in U.S. history after President Joe Biden, 81, withdrew from the race in July.
Biden’s exit followed a debate performance that raised doubts about his mental sharpness, leading him to endorse Harris.
In contrast, Trump has refrained from providing detailed medical information for this election cycle.
His last health update was in late 2023, when Dr. Ronny Jackson, his former White House physician, issued a brief statement declaring Trump to be in “excellent” health after a physical in September, though it lacked specifics about any tests or findings.
The Harris campaign is actively highlighting concerns about Trump’s health, referencing a recent series of articles in The New York Times that raised questions about the former president’s cognitive abilities.
The analysis pointed out a trend of increasingly lengthy and disorganized speeches from Trump, characterized by frequent vulgar language, which experts suggest may indicate cognitive decline.
Despite these concerns, Trump’s energy and apparent vitality have prevented his age from becoming a significant issue in polls, as both he and Harris remain in a tightly contested race.
If elected, Trump would be 82 by the end of his second term.
Health has emerged as a contentious issue in this election, with both candidates seeking to reassure voters of their fitness for office.
Harris’s campaign hopes that the release of her medical records will intensify pressure on Trump to disclose his own health information, fostering a narrative of transparency and preparedness.
While Trump asserts his fitness for the presidency, he has yet to release a comprehensive medical report.
The only other recent notable health update was in July, when Dr. Jackson reassured the public about Trump’s recovery after a bullet grazed him during a rally in Pennsylvania.

Federal agents raided the Washington, D.C., home of Democratic Congresswoman Ilhan Omar early Monday morning as part of an ongoing federal criminal investigation, the United States Department of Justice (DOJ) has confirmed.
Homeland Security Investigations agents arrived at the Minnesota congresswoman’s residence at about 6:00 a.m. Eastern Time, according to a report by Fox News.

The report said both the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the DOJ are involved in the investigation.
A DOJ spokesperson confirmed the operation, stating: “Today in the Washington, D.C. area, Homeland Security Investigations executed a judicially authorized search warrant secured by the Department of Justice.”
The spokesperson added: “This enforcement action is part of an ongoing federal criminal investigation.”

Heavy rains have triggered severe flooding across parts of Bangkok, Thailand, forcing nearly 4,900 residents to evacuate to shelters as floodwaters swept through roads and residential areas.

US President Donald Trump has explained his decision to reject Iran’s latest proposal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, saying Tehran was seeking an agreement because it was losing revenue.
Speaking to reporters at the White House, Trump said Iran wanted to immediately reopen the strategically important waterway but argued that the proposal was not acceptable to his administration.
“They want to make a deal, and I think that’s fine. I like making a deal, too, but that deal would not be acceptable,” Trump said.

According to the US president, Iran’s push to reopen the strait was driven by the economic pressure it was facing.
“What they want to do is immediately open the Hormuz Strait. Do you know why? Because they are dying,” Trump said.
“You know why they’re dying? Because they have no money coming in, because they get their money from the Hormuz Strait.”
Trump also claimed that the US had established an unprecedented naval blockade against Iran, describing it as “a wall of steel.”
“So they outsmarted themselves. We put up the greatest blockade ever in military history. It’s a wall of steel,” he said.
“And guess what? They don’t have any money now because they wanted to close the strait.”
The Strait of Hormuz is a major global energy shipping route, and disruption to traffic through the waterway has significant implications for international oil markets and countries that depend on energy imports.
Trump’s remarks came amid continued tensions between Washington and Tehran over the reopening of the strategic waterway and negotiations involving Iran.
