Chidimma Adetshina’s Mother Arrested In S’Africa Over Alleged Identity Fraud

South African authorities have arrested Anabela Rungo, the mother of reigning Miss Universe Nigeria, Chidimma Adetshina, over allegations of identity fraud.

Rungo, a Mozambican national, was taken into custody in Cape Town during a joint operation conducted by the South African Police Service (SAPS) and the Department of Home Affairs.

According to officials, she is accused of illegally obtaining a South African identity document despite being declared an “undesirable person” in September 2024 due to irregularities in her residency status.

Investigations into Rungo’s immigration records intensified after controversy surrounding her daughter’s participation in the Miss South Africa beauty pageant.

Adetshina was later disqualified when it was revealed that she did not hold South African citizenship, a key eligibility requirement.

During the operation, law enforcement officers found Rungo at a private residence along with Adetshina’s minor child.

The Department of Social Development and SAPS Child Protection Services intervened to ensure the child’s welfare.

Authorities believe Rungo may have attempted to evade immigration laws using her Mozambican passport.

The case has now been escalated to the Hawks, South Africa’s elite crime-fighting unit, for further investigation into possible fraudulent activities.

Rungo remains in custody and is expected to face legal proceedings in the coming days.

Adetshina, who was born in Nigeria, later won the Miss Universe Nigeria title and finished as first runner-up at the Miss Universe competition in Mexico last November.

Addressing the rumors in a video posted on his Instagram handle early Wednesday morning, Tuface openly declared his love for Osawaru, saying: “Yes, I love her. I want to marry her.”

He also defended Osawaru against criticisms, insisting that she was not responsible for the problems in his marriage.

“I said what I said. All of us will be alright… Honourable Natasha, I see she has been dragged, she has been called all sorts of names. She has been labeled as a home breaker. She is a young, brilliant, and amazing woman.”

“She has nothing to do with what’s happening between me and Annie. But I see everybody trying to allegedly want to rope her into everything. Yes, I love her. She is amazing, she is cool, I want to marry her.”

Tuface’s confirmation of his new relationship follows his January announcement that he and Annie Idibia had been separated for some time and had filed for divorce. At the time, he addressed his fans, stating:

“Hello to my beautiful people of all federations. Well, this thing I have to say is short but also long. Annie Macaulay and I have been separated for a while and have filed for divorce.”

“I would grant a press release soon to say my story—not because it is anyone’s right to know about my personal life, but because I love my people, and I need them to know my innocence or offence. Stay blessed, my people. I love you all.”
