Oando vindicated, Ibori Passes off as Oil Tycoon for Legitimacy
“The court hearing on Wednesday 18th September 2013 has vindicated the Company as it shows that James Ibori deliberately passed himself off as a wealthy man, specifically as an oil tycoon with 30 percent shareholding in Oando, Nigeria’s leading indigenous energy group to show that he had legitimate sources of income.
FOLLOWING the series of media stories on the current court proceedings relating to the confiscation of James Ibori’s assets which unfortunately portrayed Oando as privy to Ibori’s money laundering scheme the Oil Company was Wednesday vindicated during the court session.
Some shareholders of the Company who spoke with Newsmen on condition of anonymity after the Court session on Wednesday expressed worry that an entity like Oando with diverse investors around the world would be so tarnished. According to them while all statements made since the commencement of Court proceedings relating to Oando have been untrue, Oando has immediately reacted with precisely correct and true facts.
The court transcript goes further to show the great lengths Ibori took to hide the money embezzled from public coffers. It is a shame when a company that has been built through hard work and integrity can easily have its reputation sullied by untrue claims which it cannot defend in court. However justice will always prevail.”
Also speaking, a representative of the company reiterates Oando’s commitment to the principles and implementation of good corporate governance, and recognizes the dependence of long-term business prosperity on accountability to its shareholders.

FG Introduces New Incentives To Revitalize Nigeria’s Oil & Gas Industry
In a strategic move to revitalize Nigeria’s oil and gas sector, the Federal Government has unveiled two key fiscal incentives aimed at attracting investment and enhancing energy security.
The announcement was made by Mr. Wale Edun, the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy on Wednesday.
The first initiative, the Value Added Tax (VAT) Modification Order 2024, introduces critical exemptions for essential energy products and infrastructure, including Diesel, Feed Gas, Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), Electric Vehicles, Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) infrastructure, and Clean Cooking Equipment.

These exemptions are designed to reduce living costs for Nigerians, promote energy security, and accelerate the transition to cleaner energy alternatives.
The second initiative, the Notice of Tax Incentives for Deep Offshore Oil & Gas Production, offers new tax relief options for deep offshore exploration projects.
This measure aims to position Nigeria’s deep offshore basin as a premier destination for international oil and gas investments, boosting the country’s appeal to foreign investors.
These reforms are part of a broader set of policy initiatives, known as Policy Directives 40-42, endorsed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The directives reflect the administration’s commitment to fostering sustainable development in the energy sector and enhancing Nigeria’s competitive edge in the global oil and gas market.
