Osun Announces Imole Corps, End Of #EndBadGovernance2024

Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke has revealed that Imole Youth Corps, a youth empowerment scheme of his administration will soon be unveiled.

Gov Adeleke told party stalwarts the Osun state chapter of People’s Democratic Party (PDP), on Tuesday in Osogbo that the raging EndBadGovernance nationwide protest has ended in the state.

According to Gov Adeleke it ended after a government delegation met and addressed the protesters, promising that the demands will be submitted to the President.

“I assure you, your government is working to deliver on out electoral promises. More good things are coming. Your government is doing a lot to bring relief to our people.

“We Just paid bursary to students; We have disbursed almost 4 billion naira to cooperative bodies in Osun; We are building several roads and bridges; We Just paid almost 2 billion for half salary and cooperative deductions; We are renovating health centre and educational facilities; We will soon announce the takeoff of Imole Youth Corps; New teachers will soon be announced”, the Governor noted.

On the affairs of the ruling party, Gov Adeleke appealed to party members to remain united and never allow our issues to degenerate adding that the PDP must remain one united family.

“My only appeal to us is that we must remain united. We should never allow our issues to degenerate. We must remain one united family.

“We all know that this local government election is key for our 2026 governorship election. We must not allow personal interest to supersede the general interest of the party.

“I task us to remember that we have a wounded opposition that is desperately seeking to destroy the state. We should not give them ammunition to use against us.

“We must ensure party discipline. We must abide by decisions of the party leadership. That is the way to strengthen the party and enhances our chance to win elections”, the Governor added.

Addressing party members earlier on the forthcoming local government elections, Chairman of the party, Hon Sunday Bisi noted that there will be no imposition of candidates adding the party will only release guidelines for each local government to go and elect candidates of their choice.

“Let me take this opportunity to tell you all that there will be no imposition of candidates. We have issued guidelines for each local government to go and decide who their candidates will be.

“I can assure you that our resolve as a party is to give a level playing ground to every member of the party who is interested in being either Chairman or Councillor.

“Let me however advise you all that issues of our party should not be taken to your social media pages and henceforth we will begin to monitor and may sanction any party member who fails to comply”, he noted.

Edo State Governor Sets Up Committee To Recover Missing Gov’t Vehicles

Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State has inaugurated a 12-member committee tasked with recovering government vehicles reportedly in private hands.

The committee, led by Kelly Okungbowa, has been given a two-week mandate to retrieve the vehicles and ensure their return to the state government.

Speaking during the inauguration ceremony in Benin City, Governor Okpebholo emphasized the importance of accountability in the management of public resources.

He urged the committee to carry out its assignment thoroughly and within the bounds of the law.

In his response, Okungbowa expressed gratitude to the governor for entrusting the team with the assignment, vowing to deliver results within the stipulated timeframe.

“A lot of vehicles used by the past administration are missing, as those in custody of the vehicles have refused to return them,” Okungbowa said.

“The governor deemed it fit to inaugurate us today with a mandate to recover all government vehicles in private hands.”

The committee, which includes representatives from Edo’s three senatorial districts, is set to investigate and recover the vehicles based on credible intelligence already at their disposal.

“We already have vital information regarding some persons still holding government vehicles,” Okungbowa stated. “We will do the job according to the law, and both the government and the people will be satisfied with the outcome.”

He also called on members of the public to assist the committee by providing information about any government vehicles that may still be in private possession.

“We want to appeal to members of the public who might be aware of anyone still keeping government vehicles in their houses to please inform us to enable the committee to recover such for the Edo State Government,” Okungbowa said.

The committee’s vice chairman, Rt. Hon. Victor Edoror, a former Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, will work alongside other members to ensure the success of the initiative. The public can reach the committee at 08110165121.

Finnish Police Arrest Simon Ekpa Over Terror-Related Allegations

Simon Ekpa, a Finnish citizen of Nigerian descent, has been arrested by Finnish authorities on allegations of inciting terrorist activities.

The Päijät-Häme District Court ordered his detention following an incident that reportedly occurred in Lahti on August 23, 2021.
