Ned Nwoko Narrates How He Escaped Titanic Submarine Tragedy
Senator Ned Munir Nwoko, a member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) representing Delta North, expressed his deep sorrow and grief over the tragic passing of his dear friend and business partner, Hermish Harding describing the news as extremely saddening, unfortunate, shocking, and devastating.
He shared his heartfelt condolences and mourned the untimely demise of his dear friend and business partner through a post on his official Instagram account.
Harding tragically lost his life during a submarine expedition to explore the wreckage of the Titanic. The senator and Harding had previously embarked on a joint expedition to Antarctica in 2020.
Nwoko shared, “I have lost a very dear friend and business partner. Captain Hermish Harding. We both went on a very dangerous expedition to the Southpole Antarctica few years back. He was a gulf stream pilot who flew across the world in a record-breaking expedition by Guinness World Record for circumnavigation of the earth some years ago.
“He descended into the Mariana. He also invited me on his space shuttle last year and this very Titan ill-fated adventure but I was tied down with national duties. Above all, he was a partner on the various research into eradication of malaria in Africa project. He was very enthusiastic about it and always gave his support at every given opportunity.
“His last message to me was this last Sunday when he told me they were ready to dive to the Titanic if the weather permits. He loved adventure and challenges. My heart bleeds for his dear wife and kids who have become family friends over the years. We will surely miss his wealth of experience.”
Reports have emerged stating that Senator Ned Munir Nwoko’s recent inauguration as one of the Senators of the 10th National Assembly prevented him from joining Hermish Harding on the ill-fated Titanic expedition, which ended in a tragic manner, shocking the world.
Tragically, Harding and four others lost their lives during the submarine expedition. The casualties included Stockton Rush, the founder of OceanGate, Paul-Henri Nargeolet, a French diver, and Shahzada Dawood, a Pakistani businessman, along with his 19-year-old son Suleman.
After days of extensive search efforts, the United States Coast Guard declared them deceased. The devastating incident occurred when the small vessel transporting them to the site of the 111-year-old Titanic wreckage suffered a catastrophic implosion. The news has left the world in shock and mourning.

Gas Explosion in Katsina Filling Station Damages Six Vehicles
A gas cylinder explosion at a filling station in Jibia Local Government Area of Katsina State has resulted in significant damage to six vehicles, according to a statement from the Katsina State Police Command.
The command’s spokesperson, Abubakar Sadiq-Aliyu, confirmed the incident, which occurred on Friday, November 15, 2024.
He explained that a loud explosion alerted police operatives from the Jibia Divisional Police Headquarters. Responding promptly, the Divisional Police Officer led a team to the site, supported by military personnel.

“Upon arrival, operatives found a truck loaded with gas cylinders engulfed in flames at Tamal filling station, along Kagadama-Magamar Jibia Road,” Sadiq-Aliyu stated. The joint team acted swiftly, deploying measures to protect lives and limit property damage. Their efforts successfully extinguished the fire.
The spokesperson added, “Six motor vehicles were significantly affected by the fire incident, but fortunately, no life was lost.”
State Commissioner of Police, Aliyu Abubakar-Musa, has directed a thorough investigation to determine the cause of the explosion. Updates on the findings will be provided as investigations progress.
This incident highlights the need for heightened safety measures at gas filling stations to prevent such occurrences.
