Simi Criticises Female Pastor’s Stance On Natural Hair Acceptance
Renowned artist Simi has publicly criticized the statements made by a female preacher who suggested that women should alter their appearance by wearing wigs instead of embracing their natural hair to attract potential partners.
In response to the preacher’s widely circulated video, Simi expressed her views on her official Twitter account. She pointed out that the preacher’s advice fosters self-doubt and insecurity among women, ultimately leading to some women resorting to skin-lightening practices as a result of this negative self-image.
Simi also noted that women struggle with loving themselves when statements about their natural hair are said. To her, the preacher promoted harmful stereotypes by stating that women needed to do away with their natural hair to seem attractive. She then slammed her for being a bad role model to young ladies and giving bad advice.
Her tweet read, “Even when you hide self-hate inside “good advice”, it’s still self-hate. This is why 90% of skin care products in countries full of beautiful dark skin girls/women are “whitening creams”. And girls are told that the hair that grows out of their hair is not special enough. It’s not that you’re not good enough, it’s that they said you’re not good enough. She’s on the pulpit too. A role model. Lol. Wetin God no send una, na hin una like to dey do.”
Following some backlash she received from people who called her a hypocrite because she had a wig on in her display image, she stood her ground. The singer then charged people to stop telling women to change for other people.
She tweeted, “I’ve seen actual morons now imply that my point is moot because I have a blonde wig on in my avi. I’m hesitant to believe you can be this slow. But if it looks like red, it is probably red. Wear whatever tf you want. Just stop telling women that they’re not good enough as they are. And f**k you.”
Controversial Nigerian singer Darlington Okoye, popularly known as Speed Darlington or Akpi, has been released from Kuje Prison following a court directive.
Activist lawyer Deji Adeyanju disclosed this development on Tuesday, stating on X (formerly Twitter), “Speed Darlington is out of Kuje Prison.”
The singer’s release came after an Abuja court granted him bail. This decision followed intense public pressure on the Nigeria Police Force, which led to his arraignment.

Prior to his release, Speed Darlington had petitioned Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Force Intelligence Bureau, DIG Dasuki Galadanchi, over his prolonged detention. He called on the DIG to comply with a court order directing his release or formal arraignment.
Justice M.S. Liman had earlier issued an order on December 23, 2024, mandating the police to charge the singer within 48 hours or release him unconditionally.
Speed Darlington’s arrest stemmed from allegations he made against Grammy Award-winning singer Burna Boy. The singer accused Burna Boy of being involved in an immoral relationship with embattled U.S. rapper and music executive Sean Combs, also known as P. Diddy.
The situation has sparked widespread discussions, with many Nigerians expressing relief at Speed Darlington’s freedom while others continue to debate the circumstances surrounding his arrest.

This act of generosity occurred amid an ongoing feud between Burna Boy and the Cubana Chief Priest.

Following the donation, Cubana Chief Priest clarified that Bethel Okechukwu is not his brother, stating, “I have only one biological big brother & two kid sisters. They ain’t doing so bad.” He emphasized that he is not obligated to support his siblings financially and urged the public to verify such claims.
As of now, there are no credible reports indicating that Burna Boy instructed Bethel Okechukwu to take any specific actions towards Cubana Chief Priest after receiving the $30,000. The narrative appears to be centered around Burna Boy’s charitable gesture and Cubana Chief Priest’s subsequent clarification regarding his familial relationships.
