Influencer Hafymo Speaks Out After Her $5,000 Wedding Outfit Was Recreated for Yhemolee’s Wife

Social media influencer Hafymo has sparked widespread discussion after voicing her frustration over a $5,000 custom-made wedding dress being recreated by the same designer for another bride.

The original dress, which Hafymo commissioned for her own wedding in 2022, was later replicated for Tayo, the wife of Nigerian media personality Yhemolee, prompting the influencer to share her disappointment on X.

Hafymo expressed her shock in a tweet: “What is the point of making a custom dress for your wedding and paying for it to be made custom when the same designer will make the same exact dress for somebody else?”

The post quickly went viral, with debates surrounding intellectual property and the ethics of custom designs. However, Hafymo later clarified her remarks, noting that she was not making a legal argument but simply sharing her surprise. She stated:

“I have seen countless people remake my looks. It doesn’t bother me. This was a quick tweet to say damn! I thought this outfit was made for me and now it’s a press release. Please be for real.”

She went on to stress the importance of seeking proper documentation when working with designers, particularly concerning the exclusivity of custom designs. Hafymo explained that she had several custom outfits made for her wedding, but only this particular dress had been recreated.

“If I had known I wasn’t getting exclusivity, I wouldn’t have paid over $5,000 in 2022 for an outfit that would be remade over and over again,” she shared.

The influencer’s tweets have sparked conversations on social media, with many brides weighing in on the importance of clear agreements when commissioning custom work. Hafymo ended her statement by advising future brides to learn from her experience and seek clarity when working with designers.

Despite the backlash and online debates, she concluded: “Very, very disappointing, but it is what it is. Hopefully, other brides can learn from this. Done with this mess now.”

Activist lawyer Deji Adeyanju disclosed this development on Tuesday, stating on X (formerly Twitter), “Speed Darlington is out of Kuje Prison.”

The singer’s release came after an Abuja court granted him bail. This decision followed intense public pressure on the Nigeria Police Force, which led to his arraignment.

Prior to his release, Speed Darlington had petitioned Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Force Intelligence Bureau, DIG Dasuki Galadanchi, over his prolonged detention. He called on the DIG to comply with a court order directing his release or formal arraignment.

Justice M.S. Liman had earlier issued an order on December 23, 2024, mandating the police to charge the singer within 48 hours or release him unconditionally.

Speed Darlington’s arrest stemmed from allegations he made against Grammy Award-winning singer Burna Boy. The singer accused Burna Boy of being involved in an immoral relationship with embattled U.S. rapper and music executive Sean Combs, also known as P. Diddy.

The situation has sparked widespread discussions, with many Nigerians expressing relief at Speed Darlington’s freedom while others continue to debate the circumstances surrounding his arrest.

In early January 2025, Grammy-winning Nigerian artist Burna Boy fulfilled a promise by gifting $30,000 to Bethel Okechukwu, a phone repairer from Alaba Market who had claimed to be related to socialite Cubana Chief Priest.

This act of generosity occurred amid an ongoing feud between Burna Boy and the Cubana Chief Priest.

Following the donation, Cubana Chief Priest clarified that Bethel Okechukwu is not his brother, stating, “I have only one biological big brother & two kid sisters. They ain’t doing so bad.” He emphasized that he is not obligated to support his siblings financially and urged the public to verify such claims.

As of now, there are no credible reports indicating that Burna Boy instructed Bethel Okechukwu to take any specific actions towards Cubana Chief Priest after receiving the $30,000. The narrative appears to be centered around Burna Boy’s charitable gesture and Cubana Chief Priest’s subsequent clarification regarding his familial relationships.
