Seun Kuti Distances Himself From Burna Boy, Speed Darlington’s Feud
Renowned singer, Seun Kuti, has made it clear that he wants no involvement in the ongoing dispute between his fellow artists, Burna Boy and Speed Darlington.
The conflict began after Speed Darlington accused Burna Boy of engaging in an inappropriate relationship with American music mogul, Diddy, as a means to secure a Grammy Award. The accusation led to Speed Darlington’s arrest, further fuelling the controversy.
During a recent Instagram live session, Seun Kuti addressed fans who tried to draw him into the drama. He stated that his acceptance of diamond jewellery from Burna Boy does not place him in the position of an advisor to the Grammy-winning artist.

“Don’t involve me in Burna Boy & Speed Darlington’s case; because I collected a diamond from him doesn’t mean I’m his close adviser,” Kuti said.
The Afrobeat singer went on to highlight the irony in the allegations, pointing out that Diddy, whom Speed Darlington accused Burna Boy of associating with, played a role in making Speed Darlington famous.
He explained, “Diddy was even the one who made Speed Darlington popular. He reposted ‘Bangdadang’ which made the song popular. I have done a lot of songs, and Diddy never posted any of them, but he reposted Speed Darlington’s song.”
Seun Kuti’s remarks have since sparked discussions among fans and followers of the ongoing saga, as the fallout between Burna Boy and Speed Darlington continues to unfold.
Nigerian content creator, Denilson Igwe has raised doubts about his former collaborator Mark Angel’s recent claim of losing $3.7 million (approximately 6 billion naira) in forex trading.
Recall that in a heartfelt Instagram post, Mark Angel had described 2024 as the most challenging year of his life, revealing that a significant loss in forex trading had left him devastated. His revelation drew widespread sympathy from fans and followers, with many expressing support for the popular skitmaker.

However, Denilson Igwe, who has previously accused Mark Angel of financial misconduct, has hinted that the claims might be untrue. Responding via Instagram, Igwe wrote, “Lies na water. Some people are just worst than the devil.”
The post reignited public interest in the duo’s rocky history. In 2024, Igwe had publicly accused Mark Angel of diverting the comedy team’s streaming revenues into personal accounts. According to Igwe, while Mark was allegedly earning millions from streaming platforms, he paid other team members paltry sums.
As reactions to the unfolding drama continue to pour in, fans are divided, with some questioning the authenticity of Mark Angel’s claims and others criticizing Igwe’s public approach to addressing the issue.
Neither Mark Angel nor his team has officially responded to Igwe’s latest remarks.
Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has once again sparked conversations online with his unfiltered remarks, this time hailing Grammy-winning artist Burna Boy.
Taking to his social media, Portable shared a heartfelt post where he acknowledged Burna Boy’s unparalleled status in the Nigerian music industry.
“I man na 7 man you big pass them @burnaboygram,” Portable wrote, celebrating Burna Boy’s dominance. He continued with his signature phrases, “ZAzuu No fake life no scam life Akoi Grace,” emphasising the authenticity of his admiration.

The self-styled “Zazu Zeh” crooner further asserted his insider knowledge of the industry, saying, “If you wan know the real about the top ask me I folow dey at the top only God I never see who’s big is big.”
Portable, known for his eccentric personality and bold declarations, has never shied away from expressing his thoughts about his peers. This latest comment adds to his history of engaging with the industry’s top stars in his unique and unapologetic style.
Fans and followers have since flooded the comments with their reactions, applauding his boldness while others dissect the context of his remarks. Burna Boy is yet to respond.
Nigerian rapper, Darlington Okoye, popularly known as Speed Darlington, has initiated a N300 million fundamental rights enforcement suit against the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, over his alleged unlawful detention.
The Federal High Court in Abuja has scheduled January 13 for the hearing of Darlington’s case, following a request from his solicitor, Abubakar Marshal, to adjourn proceedings.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the adjournment will allow the police’s solicitor, Garba Audu, additional time to review and respond to the documents served.

This case stems from a court order issued on 23 December 2024, which directed the police to either charge Darlington or release him within 48 hours.
The court also instructed the Nigerian police to comply with the release order pending the hearing of the substantive case. Furthermore, it designated Abubakar Marshal, Esq., as a surety for Darlington.
The 39-year-old rapper was detained in Lagos over allegations of defamation and cyberstalking linked to comments he made about Burna Boy.
In his lawsuit, Darlington is seeking compensation for unlawful detention and is requesting an order for his immediate release or for him to be brought before the court.
His legal team has also alleged that he was subjected to torture and mistreatment during his detention.
