Tinubu Performance Is Not Perfect But Reasonable – Bode George
Former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Bode George, has offered his assessment of the performance of President Bola Tinubu, stating that while it may not be perfect, it is reasonable.
He also stated that while President Bola Tinubu’s early days as a Nigerian leader may not have been perfect, they were comparatively better than his tenure as the Governor of Lagos State from May 1999 to May 2007.
Bode George disclosed this during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today show on Tuesday.
He went on to say that despite being a staunch member of the PDP, he is not an enemy of the President.
The PDP chieftain said “The major difference between Bola and I is his methodology, his managerial style, is unlike me. I have a background in the military and I am a logistician in the military. You don’t carry your men to war without adequately doing your serious planning, intelligence gathering,”
When questioned about his assessment of President Tinubu’s administration in the three weeks since assuming office on May 29, 2023, Bode George expressed that it is not a short-term sprint.
He emphasized that Tinubu’s responsibility is to effectively manage both the people and resources of the country for its overall improvement, stating that he is just beginning his tenure.
In response to a follow-up question to describe Tinubu’s performance as Nigeria’s President within the last 22 days, the PDP stalwart said “It’s not perfect but reasonable. At least, it is better than what we had known before when he was in Lagos. May be he was much younger at that time and no experience but now, Lagos is not Abuja.”
George, a septuagenarian and long-standing political rival of Tinubu in Lagos, conveyed that if the President were to approach him to collaborate for the betterment of the country, he would seek permission from the PDP before considering such a proposition.
Despite this, he remained confident that his party, the PDP, and its candidate, Atiku Abubakar, would ultimately succeed in the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal in Abuja.
He stated.”Let’s wait for the outcome of the judiciary. The process is not over. The day the process is over and the court pronounce him as the President, we have no way to fight but to pray for Nigeria.”
