Woman Reveals Why She Tore Her Husband’s Passport
Mrs. Igiebor, a content creator known for sharing family moments on TikTok, has finally spoken out about the reasons behind her controversial decision to tear her husband’s passport.
The incident, which garnered significant attention, was rooted in long-standing family issues, according to her.
In a video posted on Monday, Mrs. Igiebor revealed that tensions between her and her husband had been brewing long before their return to Nigeria from Europe.

“This issue has been ongoing for a long time,” she said. “I had my reasons for what I did. I’m not a mad woman. I’ve been through a lot, and people shouldn’t just judge my actions without understanding the full context.”
She went on to explain that her actions were motivated by a desire to prevent her husband from returning to Europe.
“What if I had done this in Europe?” she asked. “I didn’t want him to face even more stress, which is why I did it in Nigeria. Many people at the airport that day saw me. This has always been a family issue, and my husband can’t even speak about it. I’ve suffered with him, and now his family wants to ruin everything I’ve worked for.”
Addressing those who criticized her actions, Mrs. Igiebor apologized to Nigerians and the Nigerian immigration authorities.
She expressed that her husband’s neglect of her in favour of his family had driven her to this point. “My husband is a mother’s boy, sister’s and brother’s best brother. Making me the wife to be suffering. I did what I did for him to know that I’ve been bearing the pain.
“Those of you calling for my arrest should come and hold me responsible. I cry every time after three kids. They should let me rip what I have sown with him. My husband should come out and say what happened,”
While Igiebor did not disclose specific details leading up to the passport destruction, she suggested that family issues were a contributing factor.
Recall that Igiebor was seen in a viral video tearing her husband’s Nigerian Standard Passport shortly after their arrival at Lagos Airport on Saturday, August 10, 2024.
When asked about her actions in the footage, a visibly upset Igiebor responded, “Is it your passport?”
In response to the incident, the Nigeria Immigration Service has launched an investigation, as confirmed in a statement issued on Sunday by the NIS Public Relations Officer, Kenneth Udo.
