Youths from Ndiolumbe in Abia State’s Isiala Ngwa South local government area have allegedly set a local morgue on fire.

Following multiple allegations of missing organs of bodies deposited in the morgue, the irate mob set fire on the Prince ‘O’ Mortuary, located in the Ndiolumbe town, yesterday.

The mortuary owner was allegedly harvesting and selling the organs of dead people in the morgue.

Prince Agbara, a community leader who confirmed the occurrence, said it was sacrilegious for anyone to take any parts of a dead person for personal use.

“What has happened in our community is sacrilegious. It is quite wrong for anybody to harvest body parts of the dead for whatever.

“It is always said the dead should be allowed to rest in peace and when someone goes ahead to tamper with any of the body parts of the dead, I don’t think he wants the dead person to rest in peace”

Also corroborating the story, a politician from the area, Mr. Ubani, revealed the incident took place in his constituency.

“In my constituency of Isiala Ngwa South, an angry mob went berserk yesterday destroying a morgue.

The morgue, Prince ‘O’ Mortuary located in Ndiolumbe Abia, incurred the wrath of the irate youths for allegedly indulging in the sacrilege of harvesting organs of the dead. Consequently, the youths burnt the morgue and ambulances.”
