Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, better known as Davido, has addressed misconceptions about his upbringing, affirming that he hails from a “respectful family.”

The singer made this clarification during a courtesy visit to the Olu of Warri in Delta State on Saturday, where he acknowledged that his occasional celebrity missteps do not reflect a lack of proper upbringing.

Davido emphasised that despite his status as OBO (Omo Baba Olowo) and sometimes acting “out of place” due to the pressures of fame, he was raised by “great parents” who instilled strong values in him.

“I was brought up by great parents. I come from a very respectful family but sometimes, as OBO [star], I may act out of place,” Davido explained.

This statement comes in response to recent comments from fellow Afrobeats artist Wizkid, who appeared to take a subtle jab at Davido’s family on social media. In a recent post on his X (formerly Twitter) handle, Wizkid suggested that Davido’s upbringing may not have been as polished, hinting at Davido’s uncle, Governor Ademola Adeleke, who is famously known as the ‘Dancing Governor’ for his viral dance videos.

“When u see people wey dem papa and family train, u go know! U don’t see my uncle dancing online!” Wizkid wrote, referencing the Governor’s love for dancing.

Despite the shade from Wizkid, Davido’s statement underscores his pride in his family background and upbringing, reminding the public that his occasional actions as a celebrity do not define his values.

Fans and observers have since weighed in on the ongoing rivalry between the two music icons, with many praising Davido for setting the record straight and defending his family’s honour.

Mike Bamiloye Backs Adeboye’s Apology On Tithing Misinterpretation

Published

on

Mike Bamiloye, founder of Mount Zion Faith Ministries, has expressed support for Pastor Enoch Adeboye of the Redeemed Christian Church of God following his public apology regarding teachings on tithing.

Bamiloye acknowledged that it was no small feat for Pastor Adeboye to openly apologize for his earlier statements about tithe payment.

Pastor Adeboye recently admitted that he had made a mistake in his previous teachings, where he had said that those who don’t pay tithe would not make it to heaven. He clarified that the Bible does not support this claim and instead emphasizes that living a peaceful and holy life is essential for entering heaven.

In response, Bamiloye noted,“Daddy E.A. Adeboye made a statement and the Lord corrected him before he came out in the open to correct himself at the Lord’s instruction.

“You think it is easy for a man of such global status to come out in the open to apologise if God had not corrected him in the secret?

“It is only a person who has heaven in focus and eternity in heaven in view that would count it important to do that.

“If you like, make jest of him. If you like, drag him on the ground for doing what the Lord had instructed him to do. Baba has heaven in his focus, and that is why he doesn’t care about earthly honour or human ego.

“It takes humility for a man of global status as this to come out and apologise. Only God could have spoken to such a man.

“Because God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble (James 4:6).”
